Marita de Lara is an American actress originally from Baltimore, MD. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BFA in Musical Theatre from Syracuse University School of Drama. Notable credits include: This Is Us, Hawaii Five-0, The Shield, Sons of the Universe, El Premio Mayor, and General Hospital. Film credits include Bubble (Outfest Fusion) directed by Alyssa Lerner. She's had series regular, guest star and recurring roles on TV and New Media projects as seen on ABC, CBS, NBC , FX, and Netflix.
Marita originated the role of Pocahontas in the Disney/MGM stage musical, The Spirit of Pocahontas. New York credits include : The Blue Vein Society (with Taye Diggs) and Honor Song for Crazy Horse at New Dramatists. Indigenous theatre credits include: Manu and the Red Flowers, Island of the Blue Dolphins, Sign of the Beaver. National Tours and Equity regional theatre credits : Hana's Suitcase, The Good Times Are Killing Me, Chicago, West Side Story, A Chorus Line, Hair and Miss Saigon. As a stand up comic, she's performed at clubs all over the country including The Improv, The Laugh Factory, and The Comedy Store. Marita can be seen in several national commercials as the ethnically ambiguous, aspirational mom.
Marita is a world class fitness professional. She is a member of the Pilates Method Alliance. She teaches Zumba, Cardio Barre, and Pilates. Marita is married to actor/writer, Steve Sobel. They have two kids, Lulu and Axel. Marita is an advocate for autism rights for children.
Marita was voted 3rd Best Legs in high school and Most Likely to Teach Aerobics in college.
